Libra III & The Four of Swords Tarot Card

In astrology, there are 12 zodiac signs, each lasting about a month. Each zodiac sign can be divided into three periods of time, each about 10 days. Each period of 10 days is called a decan. We are currently in the third decan of Libra season, Libra III (13 October – 22 October), which is ruled by the planet Jupiter.

Jupiter in Libra brings balance and harmony. This energy is very positive for your relationships and personal life. The Four of Swords invites you to find inner peace and reflect, bringing clarity and restoring your natural equilibrium.

We recently had two major eclipses in September and October 2024. You may find big events occurred when those eclipses arrived. Eclipses can bring dramatic and sudden changes, so it’s likely you need some downtime to process it all.

Four of Swords Tarot Card Meaning

The Four of Swords tarot card is linked to Chesed, the fourth sphere on the Tree of Life. Chesed represents mercy, compassion, stability and calm. In tarot, fours represent grounding and creating a stable foundation. The number four creates order and structure, and signifies that things are settling into place.

Swords represent our words, ideas, and thoughts, so naturally the Four of Swords means to gather your thoughts and put them in order. Since things are established with fours, the Four of Swords can perhaps mean known, clear, established knowledge. You can see clearly now and you need to process and accept it.

So with the Two of Swords you find yourself at a crossroads, you have to decide what to do, perhaps on limited information. Then with the Three of Swords you realise what is happening and that you have to act. The Four of Swords is you understanding the situation now. There’s a pause, a retreat, perhaps a truce or a compromise, allowing you time to pray and rest.

All this is why the Golden Dawn called this card the Lord of Truce or Rest from Strife. It is in this space, that we can do the work of the Five of Cups.

The Four of Swords invites you to retreat and rest awhile, so that you that can restore your natural equilibrium. So over the next ten days or if this card has appeared in a reading for you, you may find yourself in a time where you find you need plenty of rest.

Whatever the case for you, consider the Four of Swords an invitation to take a break, relax. Our bodies are just not meant to handle too much stress, anxiety, being fearful or overthinking. You have valid reasons for feeling how you do, but we’re not meant to be in a state like that constantly, it’s not healthy.

This is a time when you need healing and to be compassionate with yourself. If you have been through a difficult time recently or a trauma, you must restRecovery asks us to feel our sorrow and loss, to accept, and process what has happened.
